Farm Rehabilitation Administration Study
A
PFRA (Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration) sponsored
study to evaluate performance characteristics of aeration
devices found:
- Air
injection with diffuser (ADS) to produce fine bubbles
was the most effective and efficient at aerating as well
as mixing.
- Open-ended
air line only provided aeration to the depth at which
it was located.
- Surface
aerators did not provide adequate aeration to the bottom
waters.
Little
or no temperature difference between surface and bottom waters
is proof of complete mixing. The following table compares
the differences in temperature between the three types of
aerators studied:
