What Sets ADS Technology Apart?

Lab Test Results

Comparison testing was recently conducted to compare performance characteristics between ADS LWA-3 tubing and another brand (most similar technology).  Both brands of tubing are self-weighted and have slits spaced along the length at 3" intervals.  Contrary to ADS (slits on top), the other brand has their slits positioned along the side of the tubing.

Identical conditions were maintained for the performance testing of both brands.

It is evident from these images (video recorded during test) that, although conditions are identical, the size and number of bubbles emitted vary greatly between the ADS tubing and the other brand.

Summary

  • 20 to 30 times more bubbles are produced by ADS tubing as compared to other brand
  • Generates 200% to 300% better oxygen transfer as compared to other brand

(1)  The weight (pressure) of water at a temperature of 70o F is equal to 62.31 pounds per cubic foot (0.4327 Psi).
(2)  Pressure at orifice is the pressure reading less 1 Psi to compensate for the weight of the water.
(3) Tolerance is expressed as the degree to which the tubing must remain level (maximum allowable change in levelness).  Calculated using pressure at orifice divided by 0.4327 Psi.  This measurement is extremely important because it directly relates to the ability of the tubing to emit bubbles over its length in real world applications where ponds, lakes and reservoirs do not have level bottoms.

The following series of images (video recorded during testing) demonstrates the ability of ADS tubing and the other brand of tubing to maintain a consistent bubble pattern along the length of tubing.   Both brands of tubing were tested in 150 U.S. gallon tanks (2' x 2.5' x 4')

SUMMARY

  • In a typical pond, with a 2' to 3' bottom variation, a 250'  length of the other brand's tubing will emit bubbles only at the shallow portion of tubing resulting in an increase in bubble diameter and less water lift and oxygen transfer.
  • ADS aeration systems will operate at 10 times the differential of bottom levelness as compared to the other brand.  This ensures that an even and reliable bubble pattern can be maintained along the entire length of tubing to facilitate oxygen transfer and mixing to the whole water body.
